3. Julie Boyles Journal

My newest latest and greatest is this absolutely stunning, and I do mean stunning, red leather journal from Julie Boyles Journals.  I had an idea before my daughter was born that I wanted to write her a letter, and continue writing her letters as time marched on.  So far I have penned about four such notes to my precious little baby girl (who, really, isn't a baby anymore...she's 19 months!). 

This collection of letters got me thinking.  I now need somewhere to store all these papers, so why not get a journal and make a book out of them.  When my little one turns 18, or gets married, or what have you, I can give her this book and it will be a nice little heirloom for her to cherish for a long time to come.

I went out in search on Etsy Land for the perfect journal.  Now, there are many amazing shops out there that specialize in handmade leather journals.  I knew I found MY perfect journal shop, however, when I found Julie Boyles.  She personalizes...yes, a custom journal.  So I was able to choose a colour that is special to my daughter (her name is related to this particular colour) and Julie even monogrammed it with her initials.

I am in love with this purchase.  Everything about it is what is so great about Etsy:

1) supporting real artists (as opposed to running into Walmart for some faceless book)
2) customized in colour, size and monogramming
3) hand-made item that will, no doubtedly, become an heirloom for my daughter
4) awesomeness
